How can I benefit
from the new DIGIPRO service?
In order to reach faster downloads with DIGIPRO here are some tips:
- Have a 56K modem
- Use a direct line. If you work in an office, which has its own
"central," we recommend that you do not go through this central for
example by dialing 9 to get an external line. You can connect the
line directly to your modem. We have noticed that a central usually
reduces the speed connection.
What is E1?
This is a new technology that is available in Lebanon and which
allows to have 30 lines on 4 wires. This line is installed at
Inconet Data Management's end and allows to have better quality
connections because it is digital. It allows your call to go through
faster because it is connected in a different way to the telephone
company; mainly it has higher priority. Inconet Data Management is
now connected to the telephone company not as a normal subscriber
but looks like another exchange (central).
E1 technology allows you to get more lines faster, it is also easier
to repair and maintain because we do not have to test 30 lines but
only one. Another advantage is that we will be able to group
hundreds of lines under one number whereas before we had a maximum
of 40 or 50 under a single number.
Are you sure that we are going to see improvement? On our end
nothing has changed!
Yes definitely there will be improvement. Actually we have changed
half of the link. So it should be 50% better. Technically we used to
have two conversion (two modems) one at the user end and one at
Inconet Data Management. Now there is only ONE conversion. There is
only one modem at the user end. Inconet Data Management's end does
not have a modem anymore.
What about reliability?
Because we use digital technology the line will have less noise.
Also because we are now directly connected to the phone company with
high speed links (called E1) those lines are easy to fix because
they send us automatically an alarm in case there is a problem,
whereas before the normal phones had to be checked manually.
Practically it will be very unlikely to call Inconet Data Management
and have no
modem answering you (like ringing without answer).

I saw some improvement in the connect speed but browsing doesn't
seem to be much faster.
- Try to test another 56K modem
- Another remark is that you really get to measure the speed if you
download software especially if it is a big file you should be able
to get 3 KBytes/s at least and even reach 5 KBytes/s which was
impossible before.
- Try to go to heavy graphic sites such as http://www.mtv.com
because the browsing has small images and many of them are cached or
already stored on your PC you cannot really measure the speed
